A few years ago, I saw the video entitled “Finish Strong.” This video illustrates how individuals overcome hurdles in life to achieve personal success, including Bethany Hamilton who was attacked by a shark at age thirteen but eventually became a professional surfer with only one arm. In regards to Bethany Hamilton, the movie “Soul Surfer” describes the attack, and her mother in the movie quotes, “I don’t know why terrible things happen to us sometimes, but I have to believe something good is going to come out of this.”
We, in Trauma, can live out this quote. We do not always understand why terrible things happen to our patients and their families; only God knows. However, the Lord can use us to bring good in terrible circumstances, especially regarding trauma victims and their families.
Almighty God,
We don’t always understand You nor the circumstances around us, but please guide us in bringing out the morally good to glorify You. In Your name we pray, Amen.
